The software is available under conditions that meet the requirements of individual users. The most common use options are: purchase, single use, or consultant services.
Purchase
Software may be purchased on a site or CPU basis. The major determining cost factors are the number of tape data sets to be analyzed and the level of support required.
Single Use
A user may obtain a copy of the software for a limited period of time. This may be advantageous to a site that wishes to optimize tape data, but doesn't intend to perform periodic monitoring of tape to optimize it's use.
A user may also obtain a tape analysis for a specific period in time. The data and analysis provided will permit a user to optimize tape with a limited use of user technical resources. This is most appropriate when tape has been optimized and a user just wishes to verify that it is still optimized.
Consultant Services
Due to the complexity of tape analysis it may be appropriate to have the analysis and optimization performed on a consultant basis. This involves the initial optimization and monitoring of utilization on a periodic basis. This is most appropriate for users who don't want to dedicate resources to the optimization effort. The benefits of this approach are: users require minimal training in use of software, analysis is performed by personnel familiar with the software and optimization techniques, and optimization can progress on an accelerated basis.
