Filter Use Data identifies various statistics (see screen shot 1) that are used to categorize data in filter lists. The specific use of all data fields is currently beyond the scope of this document, but they are the criteria used by the system to automatically categorize data by filter list. A full description of data is available in the user manual.
The fields are:
- GENERIC NUMBER - number of entry in filter list.
- NO. DSN - number of data sets added to logical disk queueue.
- NO. RECALLS - number of recalls added to pool.
- REF. DAY, FIRST USE, and DAYS ON DASD/IN TVC identify how a data set is used when first created or recalled. Data is recorded at the time of migration or elimination from the TVC, so data that is not migrated or eliminated prior to the end of the simulation period is recorded in 'DAYS AT END'.
- REF. DAY - column of numbers from 0 to 31 that identify the number of days that have passed for activities represented by subsequent columns.
- FIRST USE - number of new data sets that went unused for the number of days specified in REFERENCE DAY for each specific row. If a data set is never reused it is recorded in day 0.
- DAYS ON DASD/IN TVC - time data is on DASD or TVC. Row number identifies number of days.
- CREATE TO RECALL - same process as FIRST USE, identifies number of data sets that were recalled after number of days specified by row. This data provides the information required to determine how log a data set should remain on DASD or in the TVC to avoid restaging of data.
- DAYS AT END - same process as FIRST USE, only it reflects number of data sets on DASD for the number of days specified by REFERENCE DAY since CREATE or RECALL at the termination of the simulation.
- MAXIMUM SPACE REQUIRED - size of largest data set using filter.
- BLOCK SIZE - block size of filter entry.
- EST. AVG. SLOT DAYS - Total number of days each data set is to be retained divided by 31.
- DATA SETS WITH RET > 31 DAYS - number of data sets with a retention period greater than 31 days.
- DATA SETS EXPIRED ON DISK - number reaching expiration data in pool. Migrated data sets are not included.
- JOB information produced by generic simulation.
- JOB - job name that created data set.
- STEP - step name that created data set.
- PGM - program name that created data set.
- DD - name of DD statement that created data set.
- NEW DATA SETS BY SIZE - number of data sets created by size specified in simulation.
- JOB LINK NO - Number of filter list entry of job that created a different filter entry.
- DUP. LINK NO. - Number of duplicate filter list entry.
- DUP._JOB - Y/N
- DUP._LIST - Y/N
