The basic requirement for capacity planning is the ability to identify changes in resource utilization over time. The system provides no help in projecting future requirements, but it provides an easy method to identify changes in utilization base on past history. During analysis filter lists are built for each workload. These filters can be used in the future to identify increases in the original workload. In addition, by excluding a filter from a simulation the increase in a workload that is the result of the addition of new data sets can be identified. This can be done by high level qualifier, a range of UCB's for a virtual tape subsystem, or the entire system. This is a brief description of a complex subject. Further details will be available in a separate document. |
